For several months, I had been noticing how Keira's hair was in desperate need of a trim, but every time I talked to her about getting a haircut, she adamantly refused. She repeatedly told me she wanted to grow her hair long, all the way to the floor or as long as Ariel's, she would tell me.
Well, when she found out her friend Ella went to get her hair cut at a fun kids' haircut place, she quickly changed her mind and said she'd like to get her hair cut too! Yippee!
It turned out that Noah had to catch a flight on a Sunday afternoon, so to make the trip to Pt. Loma worthwhile, we stopped off at the haircut place on our way to drop him off at the airport.
The before pictures!
She had her hair in braids all day, plus it was windy outside, so it's hard to see the true length
(and it's hard to see the scraggly ends, but they are there!).
Keira chose to sit in the fire truck!
There was A LOT of stimuli around: driving the fire truck, the lady cutting her hair and telling her to move her head this way and that, Daddy telling her to look here and there for pictures, and a movie playing on a TV in front of her--WOW!
Straightening out the ends--yeah!
I was expecting more of a "salon experience" but basically the girl sprayed her hair with water (rather than washing it at one of those reclining sinks like I am used to), trimmed the ends, braided her hair, and she was done! The whole process probably took about 10 minutes or less!
Getting a fancy braid!
Complete with glitter and two blue ribbons!
AND a lollipop for doing such a great job!
Pretty girl!
After!
So healthy and straight!
It was a fun experience for a first haircut, but if she needs a trim in the future, we'll probably just do it ourselves at home!
