Keira's First Haircut

For several months, I had been noticing how Keira's hair was in desperate need of a trim, but every time I talked to her about getting a haircut, she adamantly refused. She repeatedly told me she wanted to grow her hair long, all the way to the floor or as long as Ariel's, she would tell me.

Well, when she found out her friend Ella went to get her hair cut at a fun kids' haircut place, she quickly changed her mind and said she'd like to get her hair cut too! Yippee!

It turned out that Noah had to catch a flight on a Sunday afternoon, so to make the trip to Pt. Loma worthwhile, we stopped off at the haircut place on our way to drop him off at the airport.

The before pictures!

She had her hair in braids all day, plus it was windy outside, so it's hard to see the true length
(and it's hard to see the scraggly ends, but they are there!).

Keira chose to sit in the fire truck!

There was A LOT of stimuli around: driving the fire truck, the lady cutting her hair and telling her to move her head this way and that, Daddy telling her to look here and there for pictures, and a movie playing on a TV in front of her--WOW!

Straightening out the ends--yeah!

I was expecting more of a "salon experience" but basically the girl sprayed her hair with water (rather than washing it at one of those reclining sinks like I am used to), trimmed the ends, braided her hair, and she was done! The whole process probably took about 10 minutes or less!

Getting a fancy braid!

Complete with glitter and two blue ribbons!

AND a lollipop for doing such a great job!

Pretty girl!

After!
So healthy and straight!

It was a fun experience for a first haircut, but if she needs a trim in the future, we'll probably just do it ourselves at home!

Busy as Bees!

We have done a hodge-podge of things over the last month or so and it just seems fitting to include all these fun things in one monumental post. These aren't necessarily in exact order, but pretty close!

Bring on the pics!

Probably ever since Noah finished grad school, Keira has loved spending more time with her Daddy. Even more so these last few months, whenever he is home on the weekends, she wants to spend pretty much EVERY minute with him! It is really fun to see them bonding and building special memories together (plus, I must say, I enjoy the small breaks it gives me!).

One of their favorite weekend activities is yard work!
Keira will regularly ask if they can do yard work together and she loves being able to help.

This was a more extensive house project--painting the front door--and Keira was Daddy's Little Helper!

Hullabaloo recently celebrated 9 years of making kids' music and they put on a big party to mark their milestone anniversary. It was different to go to a Hullabaloo show in the evening, but very fun! Keira loved dancing on the big wood dance floor!

Miss Joann was there signing along to the songs--yeah!

True fans!
Getting an autographed poster!

Finally, after all these years, she let us take a picture of her with Mr. Steve!

Martin celebrated his 4th birthday with a bounce house & giant slide attached!
It made for some serious fun!

Happy birthday, Martin!

Just doing some crafts at home
(a favorite activity!)

We had some warm days in February, so we actually broke out Keira's swimming pool.
This is her doing "tree tricks" as she called them and wanted Daddy to take different pictures of her posing with the trees. Funny girl!

On a hike with Daddy at Mission Trails

Picture perfect!

Practicing writing letters and learning about rhyming words

Science experiment!

We had a Friend School reunion at Cameron's new house and the kids had a blast!
They spent most of their time riding bikes in the cul-de-sac and then had time for a quick jam session before it was time to go home.

Mom's Night Out!
We got to create a real masterpiece at this fun painting class!
This is the "before" shot with our blank canvases behind us.

The artists hard at work

Wow, look how serious I am!

The finished product!

Hey, not bad for a bunch of amateurs!

Keira and Briana had a fun play date together one afternoon.

This was Keira saying she did not want to smile for the picture.

I guess she changed her mind!

We also had a fun play date at Moonlight Beach with Oliver!
Beach weather in February?! Yes, please!

Noah & Keira went on a hike at Lake Hodges with Godfrey & Briana

Ready to go!

Yes, it was St. Patrick's Day!

Fun, fun, fun!!
More adventures to come!
